Full-Time YouTube Thumbnail Designer

About the role and why it’s unique:

• As a Youtube Thumbnail Designer at Underdog, you will design THE MOST eye-catching, engaging thumbnails that attract viewers and drive them to click on our videos.
• Collaborate with producers and editors to understand the video’s content and target audience in order to design relevant and appealing thumbnails.
• Ensure that thumbnails adhere to YouTube’s best practices and guidelines for maximum visibility and effectiveness.
• Stay updated on current design trends, YouTube algorithm changes, and competitor strategies to continually improve thumbnail performance.
• Work closely with the marketing team to ensure consistency of visual branding across all thumbnails and promotional materials.
• Iterate and optimize thumbnails based on performance metrics and viewer feedback.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Who you are:

• 3 + years of relevant experience in a similar role.
• Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual arts, or a related field. (or equivalent experience).
• Previous experience specifically designing thumbnails for YouTube or other social media platforms.
• Deep understanding of Youtube best practices and a passion for staying up to date with Youtube trends.
• High level expertise in Adobe Photoshop and Figma.
• Strong understanding of graphic design, design principles, and graphics.
• Understanding of Youtube Analytics, including SEO principles and audience engagement strategies.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain brand consistency while adapting to different video themes.
• Interest in sports and Underdog’s mission.

• A big sports fan. Especially NFL & NBA.
• Familiar with Underdog’s Network of shows & popular sports youtube channel’s.
• Have previously developed and elevated thumbnail strategies for large youtube channels.
