What will the role involve?
A sharp eye for stories likely to spark interest, generate discussion, help people make decisions, or prompt laughter. Source and create content for national and regional titles, writing engagingly and accessibly to reach a large audience.
Be creative with original ideas for content readers will love, ensuring high audience engagement.
Utilize AI tools to optimize content creation, improve accuracy, and create engaging articles.
Find and tell engaging stories within topic areas for Reach network brands.
Develop original content ideas for national and regional brands.
Source on-brand stories from social platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook).
Build online and real-life communities to share and engage with readers about published stories.
Liaise with content editors to maximize post-publication engagement.
Write stories and headlines to encourage reading and sharing.
Monitor social media trends and target key referrers.
Uphold Reach's diversity and inclusion policy.
Who are we looking for?
Experienced journalist (ideally with NCTJ or equivalent and media law knowledge), with a proven track record of telling engaging stories.
Strong passion for digital storytelling, sharp news sense, excellent accuracy, and attention to detail.
First-rate editing, writing, and subbing skills, able to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
Social media savvy, with current SEO and Discover knowledge.
Familiarity with newsroom analytics and content management systems is a plus.
Flexible, inquisitive, and knowledgeable about great storytelling.
Strong people management skills are beneficial.
