The Role
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller will oversee the accounting operations and financial activities. Responsibilities include managing accounting records, evaluating and mitigating risks, ensuring compliance with regulations, preparing and publishing financial statements, analyzing financial data, coordinating auditing processes, and verifying the accuracy of financial information in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
How You Will Make an Impact:
- Manage and oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, banking, and financial reporting.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders, including the executive team, Board of Directors, investors, customers, vendors, and auditors.
- Preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP and all applicable accounting standards.
- Manage revenue and ensure timely billing and invoicing of all revenue and proper accounting treatment per ASC 606.
- Lead the audit process with external auditors (currently PwC), including preparation of deliverables.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
- Develop processes throughout the accounting department to improve efficiency, reduce data entry time/errors, and overall improve the timeliness of accounting functions.
- Prepare technical accounting memorandums as needed, as well as continue to improve and strengthen the internal control environments.
- Other duties as assigned.
What You Bring to the Team:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a business-related field
- CPA is required
- Minimum of 5 years of public and corporate accounting experience
- Big 4 public accounting is preferred
- Highly proficient in U.S. GAAP and technical accounting
- 2 years of experience with QuickBooks or other accounting software
