We are seeking a Director of Marketing Strategy to lead client strategy and execution across our nonprofit and purpose-driven brands.
At Big Sea, the Director of Marketing Strategy is responsible for the development of and successful management of digital strategy for client brands.
The role requires an innovator, trendsetter, and progressive thinker who can connect digital to all other aspects of a client's business and drive growth opportunities.
Requirements
- Strategy Development: Develop strategies for clients and the agency, determine key questions, and use research best practices (qualitative and quantitative) to answer questions like target buyers, offering differentiation, brand communication, and digital experience integration. This combines knowledge of client objectives, online strategies, and competitive landscapes with industry knowledge to deliver effective digital marketing recommendations.
- Work with Cross-Functional Teams: Collaborate with SEO, Content, Social, Paid Media, and Web teams during client onboarding to synthesize research into a cohesive narrative.
- Develop Buyer Personas: Create buyer personas based on client marketplace position, unique value proposition, and buyer journey.
- Define Marketing Goals: Identify client marketing goals, objectives, and corresponding metrics to measure progress.
- Develop Multi-Channel Strategies: Develop multi-channel campaign strategies that support the larger strategy across brand, content, SEO, web, and paid media.
- Content-Led Growth: Build comprehensive content-led growth strategies to help clients achieve their financial goals.
Leadership:
- Champion client needs and wishes within the team.
- Ensure clear and actionable client communication.
- Maintain insight into client projects and relationships.
- Present strategies and pivots with clear rationale to the client.
Client Relationships:
- Manage client expectations.
- Identify needs, evaluate solutions, and increase client satisfaction.
- Pay attention to client priorities, and defend their position to the team.
- Communicate difficult information tactfully.
- Resolve or escalate issues promptly.
- Cultivate positive relationships, measure satisfaction, and develop future project pipeline.
- Organize regular account review meetings with the internal strategy team to assess strategy, goals, and satisfaction.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Marketing, Communications, or related field.
- At least 10 years of agency experience.
- Experience with full-funnel marketing planning.
- Experience working with HubSpot, Asana, SEMRush, Google Analytics, WordPress, and other digital marketing tools.
- Understanding of digital marketing reporting tools and metrics.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills (samples required).
