Full-Time Director, Public Relations

This role provides an incredible opportunity to be the communications leader for massive, fast-growing open source software community projects.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement communication strategies for key projects aligned with business priorities.
• Develop campaigns and media relations strategies to increase media coverage.
• Create thought leadership strategies to elevate SMEs.
• Lead media outreach to enhance project visibility and reputation.
• Oversee content creation (press releases, blog posts, etc.) ensuring resonance with target audiences.
• Establish speaking and awards programs.
• Lead and mentor a team of communications professionals.
• Support project positioning and messaging.
• Set KPIs for PR efforts and maintain analytical performance reporting.
• Assess impact of PR efforts with marketing experts.
• Stay informed about open source trends.
• Coordinate LF announcements and press releases.
• Lead PR support for Linux Foundation events.
• Support business development with collateral.

Qualifications:

• 12+ years of PR experience, including agency experience.
• Demonstrated experience in tech communications.
• Strong writing, editing, and speaking skills.
• Knowledge of tech media landscape and relationships.
• Proven ability to manage teams.
• Ability to engage and influence internal teams.
• Excellent collaboration and project management skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and prioritization skills.
• Strong client service experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with developer communities.
• Experience with Open Source projects.
• Advanced degree in Marketing or related field.
