CD PROJEKT RED is seeking an Expert Technical Artist with a focus in Graphics to join our studio in Boston to work on Cyberpunk 2.
You'll contribute your expertise in artistic and programming skills, attention to detail, and passion for creating outstanding visuals that meet ambitious artistic and technical goals.
Daily Responsibilities:
- Closely collaborate with graphics engineers, designers, artists, and other developers to ensure visual targets align with creative and technical goals.
- Develop and refine visual targets through look-development, establishing processes and procedures for real-time execution.
- Prototype, test, and expand rendering systems within Unreal Engine 5.
- Research emerging rendering trends and advancements.
- Maintain visual coherence and integration across scalable targets.
- Identify, investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve rendering and performance issues.
- Collaborate in establishing and maintaining GPU budgets/targets and content memory allocations.
- Develop testing tools for artist deployment of optimized and performant content.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration to ensure solutions effectively contribute to systemic components.
- Mentor and guide the art team in best practices and technical approaches.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in the video games industry, with a focus on rendering, shading, lighting, VFX, or real-time graphics.
- Strong understanding of GPU workflows (lighting, rendering, compute shaders), especially using Unreal Engine 5.
- Demonstrable experience developing functional and efficient shaders and materials.
- Expertise in HLSL, GSL, or similar shader programming.
- Professional experience with node-based shading systems.
- Familiarity with DirectX 12 or similar graphics APIs.
- Proven experience building scalable lighting, shading, and material pipelines.
- Experience with profiling tools (e.g., PIX, RenderDoc, Unreal Insights).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong commitment to ownership, goal-setting, knowledge exchange, and independent initiative.
- Ability to think creatively and strategically to solve complex technical challenges.
Nice to Have (not required):
- Experience in tool development and automation using C++ or Python.
Location: This role can be fully remote from the USA or Canada.
