Job SummaryThe Field Service Engineer (FSE) – Microbiology Specialist will provide routine to complex field service and support for Sievers® brand endotoxin and bioburden analytical instruments. Support will include maintenance, verification, validation, repair, and calibration. This role also includes troubleshooting, user training, and field service/support for TOC instrumentation. Residency within the Denver Metropolitan area, within one hour of Denver International Airport, is required. Other locations considered based on candidate qualifications and geographic needs.
Key CharacteristicsThe ideal candidate is self-directed, detail-oriented, motivated, and committed to domestic overnight travel. The candidate must effectively manage own planning, scheduling, and confirmation of services, balancing priorities. The role requires a scientific approach to instrument operation, maintenance, and repair, along with strong administrative skills. Excellent client focus, communication (written and verbal), and customer service skills are crucial.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Travel to customer sites for preventative maintenance (PM) and other services on TOC equipment.
- Plan, schedule, and confirm customer services, coordinating travel and parts.
- Maintain administrative duties, parts inventory, and relevant trainings.
- Handle customer calls, participate in territory sales calls and service meetings.
- Respond to on-demand contract services with specific response commitments.
- Write clear and concise reports for customers.
- Assist with special projects and new hire training.
- Collaborate with sales to identify instrument and service opportunities and upsell services and consumables.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and company policies (EHS).
- Domestic travel (70%), including overnight stays.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong technical, mathematical, and customer service skills.
- Understanding of microbiology principles related to pharmaceutical water quality testing.
- Knowledge of cGMP/GLP/GDPs practices and EHS requirements.
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- General knowledge of electrical equipment, chemistry, and safety.
- Proficient in computer software (word processing, spreadsheets, networking, databases).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated, able to drive projects to completion with minimal oversight.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups and customers.
- Meets deadlines and commitments.
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, microbiology, or related field.
- 2+ years of experience in Endotoxin and/or Bioburden testing, or other Bio detection protocols within the pharmaceutical industry or GMP facility.
Preferred
- Experience in pharmaceutical water quality testing (bioburden, endotoxin).
- Hands-on experience with bioburden and/or endotoxin analytical instruments.
- Ultra-pure water applications experience or servicing/operating lab instrumentation.
- Analytical instrumentation field service support experience.
Work Conditions
- Significant daily driving to customer sites.

Compensation (Range): $31-$39/hour
