Job Summary The Field Service Engineer (FSE) – Microbiology Specialist will provide routine to complex field service and support for Sievers® brand endotoxin and bioburden analytical instruments. Support includes maintenance, verification, validation, repair, and calibration, troubleshooting operational issues, and user training. Will also support Sievers® brand TOC instrumentation.
Residency Requirement: Denver Metropolitan area, within one hour of Denver International Airport. Other options considered based on qualifications and geographic needs, but within a pre-existing service territory and within one hour of an international airport.
Travel Requirements: Frequent overnight travel within the US, supporting endotoxin and bioburden customers. Some overnight travel for TOC customers.
Key Characteristics: Resourceful, self-directed, attentive to detail, motivated, committed to domestic overnight travel. Able to organize planning, scheduling, and confirmation of services, balancing priorities. Employs a scientific approach to instrumentation, and proficient in administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Travel to customer sites, perform PM and related services on TOC equipment.
- Plan, schedule, and confirm customer services, coordinating travel and parts shipments.
- Maintain administrative duties, parts inventory, and relevant trainings.
- Respond to on-demand contract services within 3 or 7 business days.
- Write clear and concise reports for customers.
- Special projects and new hire training.
- Work closely with Sales to provide insight on instrument and service opportunities and upsell services and consumables.
- Ensure safety compliance and adhere to Veolia EHS policies.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong technical, mathematical, and customer service skills.
- Understanding of microbiology principles, cGMP/GLP, and GDPs.
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, ability to use processes to find root cause.
- General knowledge of electrical equipment, chemistry, and safety.
- Computer proficiency (word processing, spreadsheets, networking, databases).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and commitments.
- Ability to work effectively within a commercial team.
- Ability to make good business decisions based on risk-reward analysis.
Required: Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, microbiology, or related field; 2+ years experience in endotoxin/bioburden testing, or bio-detection, within pharmaceutical industry or GMP facility.
Preferred: Domain expertise in pharmaceutical water quality testing, experience with analytical instrumentation and equipment, experience in ultra-pure water applications.
Working Conditions: Flexible schedule, significant time driving, air travel, 70% domestic overnight stays, work in various customer sites (industrial, clean rooms, labs), and lift up to 50 pounds.
Compensation: $31-39 hourly.
