Field Service Technician I - DTW
This position requires daily travel to locations in and around the Detroit area, including the airport.
SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:
- Meeting daily service repair needs and driving customer satisfaction
- Installing, repairing and maintaining equipment in the field; providing customer training as required.
- Documenting all inspections, maintenance, repair work and submitting paperwork in a timely basis
- Ordering, installing, and returning parts and managing repair parts cycle time
- Reviewing all logs for open issues and preparing formal reports to customers as necessary
- Participating in Service Sales opportunities and assisting with promoting and implementing revenue programs
- Ensuring that tools and test equipment are properly maintained and calibrated
- Assessing product/equipment performance based on field support data; recommending modifications or improvements
- Providing technical support to customers and other service professionals
- Participating in site surveys, pilot program service activities, and attending meetings
- Possessing basic technical knowledge on the company’s Trace and X-Ray technologies
- Maintaining clear and concise business communication (oral and written)
- Establishing and maintaining a close relationship with senior level FSE’s and Product Managers
- Controlling and minimizing costs
- Travel, overtime and work hours other than Monday-Friday may be required
- Complying with Company health, safety and environmental policies
- Complying with U.S. export control and security regulations
- Performing other duties as required
Education/Training: Associate’s Degree/Related Trade Certification (electrical, electronic, mechanical)/Military Training (electrical, mechanical, electronics). (Equivalence achieved through comparative work and life experience of 1-3 years is acceptable.) Computer literacy; competency in use of all programs within MS Office Suite and aptitude for learning specialized software programs.
Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years experience directly involved in troubleshooting and field repair of electrical and electronic systems and equipment.
Knowledge/Skills: Excellent communication skills, strong customer focus and teamwork orientation. Responsive to all customer issues. Willing & able to travel at short notice.
Background: Requires Sensitive Security Information (SSI) access and vetting via the TSA. Applicant must successfully pass a federal background investigation.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal skills; ability to multitask. Excellent customer service skills and ability to handle stressful situations. Self-motivated, reliable, and accountable. Excellent telephone skills. Ability to lift/carry 80 lbs., push/pull 200 lbs., and move/manipulate equipment up to 1000 lbs. (with assistance). Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, turning, and working in unusual positions requiring full body mobility. Ability to work safely in extreme environments and around dangerous industrial equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Typically at customer locations (airports, correctional facilities, courthouses, cruise ships, etc.).
Salary Range: $42,000.00 - $98,000.00 per year.
