Field Service Technician II - AUS

This position requires daily travel to locations in and around the Austin area, including the airport.

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot, service, install, and repair Trace, X-Ray, CT X-ray, and Cargo Inspection equipment at customer sites.
  • Maintain field service logs and filing systems.
  • Provide assistance to Technical Support staff when not on travel or assigned shift.
  • Conduct follow-up calls with customers to ensure satisfaction.
  • Mentor lower-level FSTs.
  • Meet daily service repair needs and drive customer satisfaction.
  • Foster positive customer relations.
  • Install, repair, and maintain equipment; provide customer training.
  • Respond to emergency and non-scheduled calls.
  • Complete scheduled maintenance within deadlines.
  • Document inspections, maintenance, and repair work, and submit paperwork promptly.
  • Order, install, and return parts; manage repair parts cycle time.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of parts and tools.
  • Maintain technical certifications.
  • Review logs for open issues and prepare reports.
  • Participate in Service Sales opportunities and assist with revenue programs.
  • Seek knowledge from senior FSTs.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of tools and test equipment.
  • Assess product/equipment performance and recommend improvements.
  • Provide technical support to customers and other service professionals.
  • Participate in site surveys, pilot programs, meetings, and special projects; prepare reports.
  • Maintain technical knowledge of Trace and X-Ray technologies.
  • Maintain clear and concise business communication.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with senior FSTs and Product Managers.
  • Control and minimize costs while maximizing revenue.
  • Submit expenses, timecards, and other administrative tasks within deadlines.
  • Comply with company health, safety, and environmental policies, and export control regulations.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree/Related Trade Certification (electrical, electronic, mechanical) or Military Training (electrical, mechanical, electronics).
  • 1-3 years of experience in a related electrical or mechanical field service role.
  • Strong computer literacy; proficiency in MS Office Suite and ability to learn specialized software.
  • 5+ years of experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical and electronic systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and customer focus.
  • Ability to travel at short notice.
  • Ability to lift/carry 80 lbs., push/pull 200 lbs., and manipulate equipment weighing up to 1000 lbs.
  • Ability to work in various environments.

Additional Requirements:

  • SSI access and vetting via TSA.
