About ReFED: ReFED is a U.S.-based nonprofit catalyzing evidence-based action to stop food waste. The Finance Manager ensures financial integrity and operational efficiency for ReFED and its fiscally sponsored project, the Zero Waste Food Coalition.
Role Purpose: Manage day-to-day accounting and financial processes including NetSuite data maintenance, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, budgeting, contract management, and financial reporting to management, leadership, and the Board.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate financial data in NetSuite and reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly.
- Manage bookkeeping functions: AP, AR, payroll, purchase orders, and vendor contracts.
- Support annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, budget-to-actual tracking, and Board presentations.
- Track grant and restricted fund accounting; prepare grant financial reports and support proposal budgeting.
- Produce monthly, annual, and ad-hoc financial statements; support month-end close and audits.
- Document and strengthen internal controls and collaborate with Development to align financial records.
Qualifications:
- 2–4 years progressive nonprofit finance or equivalent experience; multi-entity accounting and grant reporting preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of NetSuite, Salesforce or similar CRM, and Excel; experience with Expensify and Airtable a plus.
- Experience supporting audits, GAAP/GAAS understanding, and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to translate financial data into clear insights and communicate with non-financial colleagues.
- Comfortable working remotely and occasionally traveling for team events.
