TRAILS (Transforming Research into Action to Improve the Lives of Students) is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Finance Specialist.
Responsibilities:
- Payroll (45%): Validate and submit payroll, ensure accuracy and compliance. Maintain records, communicate/resolve discrepancies, review/reconcile payroll items (salaries, reimbursements, benefits). Collaborate with People team on new hires, terminations, and adjustments. Review tax filings for compliance. Support payroll inquiries.
- Accounts Receivable (25%): Generate/dispatch invoices, ensure compliance with funding source requirements. Record/track incoming funds, maintain donor/grantor records. Manage past-due invoices. Prepare reports for management review. Reconcile accounts receivable.
- Finance Process Improvement (20%): Collaborate with teams to improve financial processes. Identify process improvements/increased efficiency. Own/participate in projects, creating/updating policies, system development, and process enhancements. Provide backup to other Finance Specialists.
- Team Responsibilities (10%): Attend meetings, support team initiatives.
Qualifications:
- 2-5 years experience in payroll and accounts receivable, preferably nonprofit.
- 2-5 years experience with financial/project management tools.
- Experience administering multi-state payroll compliance.
- Experience in Microsoft Office/Google Suite.
- Grant compliance experience a plus.
- Experience supporting a rapidly growing organization a plus.
- Knowledge of payroll compliance & regulations.
- Strong communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- Analytical & problem-solving skills.

Education:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- Payroll processing certification preferred.
Compensation: $88,030 - $92,921
