Kaizen CPAs + Advisors is hiring a full-time Fractional CFO to lead financial strategy for a portfolio of fast-growing small- and mid-sized businesses.
You’ll work directly with entrepreneurial leaders who rely on your insight to make smart, forward-looking decisions.
In this role, you’ll own financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting – while guiding business owners through critical moments and mentoring a rising Financial Analyst.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, BvA, KPIs)
- Lead budgeting, rolling forecasts, and scenario modeling
- Develop financial models to support pricing, capital investment, and strategic planning
- Evaluate and improve internal controls and financial processes
- Identify advisory opportunities and contribute to firm-wide thought leadership
- Client Advisory
- Facilitate monthly and quarterly review meetings with business owners and stakeholders
- Lead initial strategy sessions and create 12-month financial roadmaps
- Present financial insights in a clear, actionable format without unnecessary complexity
- Maintain timely, proactive communication and ensure all client touchpoints are documented
- Team Leadership
- Supervise and mentor a Financial Analyst, providing direction, feedback, and growth opportunities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver a consistent client experience
- Promote process improvement, operational efficiency, and alignment with firm values
- Engagement Oversight
- Lead onboarding for new CFO engagements, including accounting clean-up and reporting system setup
- Manage reforecasting cycles and oversee any financial system transitions
- Support M&A activity through financial due diligence and integration planning
- Maintain active CPA, CMA, or EA licensure and comply with all applicable professional standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master’s or MBA preferred
- Active CPA, CMA, or EA license required
- 10+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a CFO or senior strategic finance role
- Intermediate-level tax knowledge, with the ability to advise on entity structure, owner compensation, and general tax implications
- Experience advising small to mid-sized privately held businesses across industries
- Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex financial concepts

- Compensation: Starting at $120k per year, based on experience, with the opportunity for commission incentives when earnings exceed annual compensation.
