Full-Time Fractional CFO

Kaizen CPAs + Advisors is hiring a full-time Fractional CFO to lead financial strategy for a portfolio of fast-growing small- and mid-sized businesses.

You’ll work directly with entrepreneurial leaders who rely on your insight to make smart, forward-looking decisions.

In this role, you’ll own financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting – while guiding business owners through critical moments and mentoring a rising Financial Analyst.

Key Responsibilities

1. Manage monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, BvA, KPIs)
2. Lead budgeting, rolling forecasts, and scenario modeling
3. Develop financial models to support pricing, capital investment, and strategic planning
4. Evaluate and improve internal controls and financial processes
5. Identify advisory opportunities and contribute to firm-wide thought leadership
6. Client Advisory
7. Facilitate monthly and quarterly review meetings with business owners and stakeholders
8. Lead initial strategy sessions and create 12-month financial roadmaps
9. Present financial insights in a clear, actionable format without unnecessary complexity
10. Maintain timely, proactive communication and ensure all client touchpoints are documented
11. Team Leadership
12. Supervise and mentor a Financial Analyst, providing direction, feedback, and growth opportunities
13. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver a consistent client experience
14. Promote process improvement, operational efficiency, and alignment with firm values
15. Engagement Oversight
16. Lead onboarding for new CFO engagements, including accounting clean-up and reporting system setup
17. Manage reforecasting cycles and oversee any financial system transitions
18. Support M&A activity through financial due diligence and integration planning
19. Maintain active CPA, CMA, or EA licensure and comply with all applicable professional standards

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master’s or MBA preferred
• Active CPA, CMA, or EA license required
• 10+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a CFO or senior strategic finance role
• Intermediate-level tax knowledge, with the ability to advise on entity structure, owner compensation, and general tax implications
• Experience advising small to mid-sized privately held businesses across industries
• Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex financial concepts

Additional Information

• Compensation: Starting at $120k per year, based on experience, with the opportunity for commission incentives when earnings exceed annual compensation.
