CD PROJEKT RED is looking for a Gameplay Animator to join our team working on Project Sirius - an original video game combining beloved aspects of The Witcher world with immersive multiplayer gameplay.
The Gameplay Animator will have a solid understanding of current AAA-quality animation techniques and software, and use these skills to bring to life the characters and monsters that populate the game world.
They are expected to maintain quality and artistic consistency as defined by the Art Director.
The person in this role will report to the Lead Animator.
This position will require remote cooperation with the Boston studio (from any location that is within 3 hours away of the UTC +2 time zone).
Daily Responsibilities:
- Work with the design, art, engineering and narrative teams to refine character and creature movement for believable gameplay.
- Create stylized motion captured and keyframe animations for humans and creatures which bring life and weight to the on-screen performance.
- Implement animations into the Unreal 5 engine.
- Actively participate in technical and aesthetic problem-solving discussions and critiques.
Requirements:
- 5+ years game industry experience as a character or gameplay animator
- A portfolio that demonstrates a strong animation skillset with a variety of character types, including humans, quadrupeds, and creatures
- Maya proficiency
- MotionBuilder experience
- Experience working with Motion Capture data
- Experience with Unreal Engine 5
- Knowledge of current game industry animation trends, technologies, rigging, tools, pipelines, performance trade-offs and interdepartmental dependencies
- Experience integrating animations into state machines and fine-tuning transitions for seamless animation flow
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively coordinate with producers, programmers, designers, as well as artists
- Strong understanding of anatomy (human and animal) with the ability to create believable weight and motion in character and creature animations
- Curiosity, kindness, and a positive and professional can-do attitude
Nice to Have:
- Rigging experience
- Scripting experience (Mel, Python, or visual/Blueprint)
- Video editing experience with Premier, After Effects, or similar
Working Mode:
Choose between a remote-first or office-first working mode.
- Office-First: working primarily from the Warsaw, Wrocław, or Kraków office for a minimum of 10 days per month.
- Remote-First: working from home, or from any location that is within 3 hours away of the UTC +2 time zone.
