Job Details
GL Accountant maintains financial records and ensures that financial transactions are properly recorded. Ensures the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger. Prepares complex balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial reports. Analyzes current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses. Supervises and guides the work of lower-level accountants.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for maintaining accounts and records in various general and/or cost accounting functions
- Work closely with internal and external accounting teams responsible for new and existing multi-currency subsidiaries.
- Assist with set up of new subsidiaries and direct these teams as necessary to ensure correct accounting practices are followed.
- Collects and analyzes financial data and prepares reports and recommendations.
- Reviews, verifies and approves transactions and journal entries
- Prepares income and balance sheet, profit and loss, consolidated and other accounting statements
- May design, modify, install and/or maintain general accounting systems
- Ensures procedures and internal controls are followed in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley initiatives
- Incumbents provide a leadership role for peers through extensive knowledge in his/her area of specialization champion significant projects, programs and business initiatives using demonstrated creativity and ingenuity
- Generally free to determine work priorities based on general direction from managers
- Maintain accurate payroll records and processes to ensure statutory compliance; and manage appropriate responses to tax or regulatory notices/requests
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s or higher in accounting or related field
- Requires 5+ years of relevant experience
- CPA certification a plus
- Experience with ERP systems; Intacct a plus
- Experience defining and operationalizing financial strategies.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel (including operations such as v-lookup, functions, pivot tables, etc.)
