The opportunityWe are looking for a manager to join the Graphics Drivers and Kernel team specializing in Khronos technologies including Vulkan, WebGPU, and OpenGL. We work on the graphics hardware abstraction layer at the heart of the Unity engine. You will lead a team of graphics developers to enhance and maintain the graphics APIs that connect Unity with key hardware, with a focus on supporting and developing state-of-the-art features for the current and future platforms Unity supports!This role allows you to have a direct impact on how the engine takes advantage of graphics hardware features, and includes some collaboration with major platform and GPU partners.
What you'll be doing
- Own people management, delivery, quality, and planning for support for Vulkan, WebGPU, and OpenGL developers.
- Own quality for Khronos APIs and design and implement processes to improve performance, testability and stability.
- Work with partners/stakeholders to understand requirements, plan work, communicate progress and collaboratively solve problems that arise.
- Participate in technical discussions with our platform and GPU partners.
- Engage in technical design reviews, code reviews and build automated tests for new features.
What we're looking for
- Some prior experience with leadership which may include ownership of people management, project execution, quality assurance, planning, or project management processes.
- Solid understanding of real-time 3D graphics programming with a good knowledge of modern GPU architecture, C++/C#, and multithreading.
- Proficiency with graphics APIs such as OpenGL, Vulkan or WebGPU.
- Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with a keen interest in rendering and cross-platform development.
- Ability to coach and mentor developers to diagnose bugs and performance issues using industry-standard tools.
You might also have
- Experience of development for multiple platforms. Mobile, XR and Console are especially of interest.
- Working knowledge of other platform APIs.
- Project management experience.
- Hands-on experience working with Unity.
