Full-Time Historian

Historian Job Summary:Firaxis Games is seeking a talented, experienced historian and writer to join our AAA development team. The ideal candidate is creative, articulate, and proficient in collaborating with designers to develop original ideas for characters, content, and narrative.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with artists, designers, and team members to craft compelling and historically accurate characters.
• Write and edit high-quality dialogue, backstories, lore, and expository text.
• Research historical topics from academic sources to create engaging explanatory pieces for a general audience.
• Ensure historical accuracy across multiple departments.
• Explain complex historical issues to a non-specialist audience.
• Identify and address potential issues with writing, stories, art, or design.

Requirements:

• 4+ years of experience as a Writer, Narrative Designer, or related role.
• Degree in History or related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
• Advanced historical knowledge, combined with broad knowledge of game principles.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Proven ability to communicate complex historical content effectively.
• Adaptability in tone and style across different game genres.
• Interest in and appreciation for history from various perspectives.
• Experience with localization processes (preferred).
• Experience with game engines and writing workflows (preferred).
• Knowledge of audio design (preferred).
