Job Summary:
Lockwood Hills Federal is seeking a Software Engineer II to develop and migrate applications in support of the Advanced Distributed Learning Initiative.
The Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) Initiative bridges across US Government agencies to encourage collaboration, facilitate interoperability, and promote best practices for using distributed learning to provide the highest-quality education, training, informal learning.
As a Software Engineer II specializing in training and education systems, you'll contribute to the development and maintenance of cloud-based solutions that enhance learning experiences. You'll work closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to create efficient applications for educational institutions and training providers.
Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities:
- Assists in designing, developing, and deploying AWS-based applications and services for training and education systems.
- Collaborates with instructional designers and educators to integrate technology into learning environments.
- Optimizes cloud resources for cost-effectiveness, scalability, and performance.
- Ensures compliance with security and privacy standards in educational settings.
- Troubleshoots and resolves technical issues related to training platforms and content delivery.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be US Citizen able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance (or higher).
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum 1 years hands on Software Engineering experience.
- Basic understanding of networking, programming, and cloud technologies.
- Familiarity with Linux, Python, and other similar languages.
- Knowledge of JSON-LD and LinkData.
- AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (or willingness to obtain certification).
- Technical Skills:
- Cloud Platforms: AWS.
- Operating Systems: Linux (RHEL/CentOS).
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) or Educational Technology (EdTech) platforms.
- Interest in serverless architecture, microservices, and containerization.
- Familiarity with AWS services such as Amazon S3, Amazon RDS, and Amazon EC2.
- Eagerness to learn and contribute to educational technology solutions.
