As part of its continued growth, Checkout.com is looking for an exceptionally skilled and experienced individual to join our team as the Manager ,Revenue Accounting ( Incentives ). In this role, you will be at the forefront of ensuring accurate accounting treatment of incentives expected from Card Schemes . This Manager will be the key Revenue Accounting representative in ongoing engagement with Product, Commercial , Technical Accounting and Data teams on initiatives relating to Incentive accounting.
This will be a hands-on role and is an excellent platform for a seasoned finance professional looking to step into an expansion-focused role within a vanguard FinTech.
An ideal candidate would have a strong technical foundation in revenue accounting, reporting, risks and control, a well-trained eye for effective and efficient processes, great excel modelling skills as well as a credible presence in supporting businesses through growth and expansion.
Role overview:
In this key role, you'll have the opportunity to:
- Ensure the accurate accounting treatment of incentives in line with US GAAP and adherence to the contractual terms of executed incentive agreements with Schemes.
- Oversee contra revenue accounting entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, financial performance insights, and internal and external reporting for month-end, quarterly, and year-end reporting.
- Oversees all lifecycle events of executed contracts, which includes constructing financial models for incentive accruals, conducting quarterly true-ups, handling receipt of payments, and overseeing contract renewals, data ingestion and tracking.
- Provide subject matter expertise, offering accounting and operational guidance on new business initiatives with Finance and non-Finance stakeholders.
- Champion simplification and continuous enhancement of processes and controls to ensure efficient financial reporting and operational processes. This includes collaborating with relevant stakeholders to drive a successful end-to-end approach to reporting.
- Influence business decisions with effective verbal and written communication, data-driven analysis, and the presentation of alternatives.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to support team members' career development. Encourage a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
- Manage the revenue team's Internal/Stat Audits as well as regulatory reporting
Qualifications
- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA), ideally with a mix of public accounting experience and PLC experience
- Strong excel model building skills.
- At least 7 years’ experience of progressive Financial Control experience in a fast-paced environment
- Track record in driving simplification, standardisation and continuous improvement of existing processes.
- Demonstrable experience in influencing stakeholders in a complex organisation to achieve successful end-to-end approach to reporting.
- Sound business judgment, proven ability to influence others, including the ability to persuade with data.
- Strong understanding of accounting standards including IFRS 15, and experienced in turning technical guidance into operational activities.
