Roblox Game Developer (Backend & Gameplay Focus)

Responsibilities

• Game Development: Design, develop, and implement game mechanics, systems, and features using Roblox Studio and Lua scripting.
• Backend Systems: Develop robust and scalable backend infrastructure to handle multiplayer gameplay, leaderboards, and data persistence.
• Collaboration: Work closely with designers and other developers to align technical solutions with gameplay vision.
• Testing & Optimization: Perform debugging, testing, and performance optimization to ensure smooth gameplay experiences across devices.
• Maintenance: Provide ongoing support and updates for live games, ensuring reliability and bug-free performance.

Requirements

• Qualifications
• Experience: Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience in Roblox game development with a focus on backend systems and gameplay.
• Portfolio: A portfolio showcasing at least 2 published Roblox games (links or descriptions required), emphasizing your contributions to backend or gameplay systems.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Lua scripting within Roblox Studio. Knowledge of data storage systems (e.g., DataStores, MemoryStore) for Roblox. Understanding of multiplayer game mechanics and networking on Roblox. Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Problem-Solving: Strong debugging skills and ability to optimize code for performance.
• Communication: Excellent ability to document and explain technical concepts, collaborate with non-technical team members, and contribute to creative brainstorming.
• Nice-to-Have Skills: Experience with cloud integration (e.g., AWS, Azure) for additional backend functionality. Familiarity with game monetization strategies within Roblox (e.g., Game Passes, Developer Products). Understanding of Roblox Analytics and user behavior data tracking. Basic understanding of 3D environments (for integration purposes, not asset creation).
