Build and compose levels in engine using modular kits, PBR materials, and procedural workflows.
Redesign and optimize assets to meet performance, style, and technical requirements.
Oversee outsourced content; provide clear feedback and ensure deliverables meet fidelity and optimization standards.
Identify and resolve issues with scale, LODs, and integration early in production.
Review assets in-engine, profile for performance, and ensure smooth cross-discipline collaboration.

Mentor junior artists and vendors, promoting best practices in naming, organization, and optimization.
Participate in reviews, adapt to feedback, and support onboarding and recruitment when needed.

Requirements:
- A strong portfolio showcasing AAA quality level art done in engine (Unreal, Unity or Proprietary Engine).
- 5+ years environment art experience (2+ in vendor management).
- Excellent knowledge of industry-standard software packages for modeling, high-poly sculpting (Maya, Max, ZBrush, Substance, Photoshop).
- Artistically interpret concepts or creatively push beyond an initial ideation.
- A solid understanding of traditional art skills along with foundational design competencies (shape, form, texture, value and color).
- Mastery of modular workflows.
- Understanding of real-time rendering, PBR, LODs.
- Skilled at balancing art quality and performance in the game engine.
- Advanced knowledge of current level art workflows and practices.
- Ability to adapt, and develop specific art style, techniques and workflows with minimum guidance.
- Ability to manage multiple partners/projects.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
Additional Skills:
- Client expects environment artists to serve as gatekeepers for fidelity + performance, not just asset builders.
- Must be comfortable with LOD creation, optimization strategies, and profiling vendor assets for runtime performance.
- Capable of supporting automation in environment assembly (procedural tools, Houdini HDAs, tessellation workflows).
- Able to bridge legacy PS2/PS3 era levels into modern PBR + modular pipelines, identifying when to rebuild vs re-use.
