SkyBox Labs is a game development studio that works on some of the world's most iconic games. Currently co-developing Halo Infinite, working on projects in the Minecraft universe, supporting Bungie on Destiny, supporting Fallout 76, and working on original IP. They're looking for a Senior Environment Artist to contribute to the immersive worlds of Destiny 2. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with multiple teams to shape compelling game spaces, focusing on engine-driven world-building, from ideation to finished levels.
Role Summary
- Work with designers, artists and other disciplines to craft immersive spaces aligned with gameplay and narrative.
- Build world layouts using organic and hard surface elements, owning the space from ideation to completion.
- Refine level layouts, composition, and environmental storytelling directly within the engine.
- Optimize and problem-solve within a proprietary pipeline, ensuring performance without compromising quality.
- Collaborate with level designers to enhance player experience through world layouts.
Requirements
- Extensive world-building experience in a game engine.
- Strong level art and design sensibilities, with a track record of working alongside designers to build gameplay-ready spaces.
- Expert proficiency in 3ds Max or Maya.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Organized, adaptable, strong time management skills.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to learn new tools and workflows.
- Portfolio showcasing environmental storytelling, creativity, and technical skill.
Nice-to-haves
- Understanding of lighting, FX, or other disciplines.
- Asset modeling experience.
- Familiarity with Perforce, Jira, and Shotgrid.
