Mob Entertainment, a startup multimedia studio, is looking for a Senior Level Designer to guide level design for the Poppy Playtime franchise.
You'll collaborate with directors, ensuring levels are tense, well-paced, and atmospheric. This hands-on role involves shaping structure and vision, mentoring designers, and building compelling spaces in Unreal Engine 5.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate on level design pipeline, aligning with gameplay, narrative, and technical constraints.
- Collaborate with directors to define experience goals and spatial rhythms.
- Prototype, build, and iterate levels in Unreal Engine.
- Work with Gameplay Designers, Writers, Engineers, and Artists.
- Maintain strong documentation, workflow clarity, and progress visibility.
- Lead playtests and design reviews, gathering feedback.
- Balance level aesthetics, readability, and performance.
- Help shape level design culture and team capability.
Requirements:
- 6+ years professional game design experience, focusing on level design.
- 2+ years experience in mentoring.
- Proficiency in Unreal Engine 5, using Blueprints.
- Portfolio demonstrating authored or led level work (first-person, puzzle, or horror).
- Strong grasp of spatial pacing, gameplay, environmental storytelling, and encounter flow.
- Experience collaborating with narrative teams.
- Comfort with high-level vision and hands-on production (greyboxing, paper designs).
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with source control (Perforce), task management tools, and level design documentation.
Pluses:
- Experience with narrative-focused or horror adventure games.
- Familiarity with modular environment workflows and LD/Art pipeline coordination.
- Experience with procedural or systemic game spaces.
- Strong instincts for emotional pacing, building tension.
Performance Expectations:
- Drive vision, quality, and execution of level design.
