What a Senior Media Planner Does
The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in media planning and buying, focusing on executing strategies and ensuring smooth campaign delivery. You will support the Media Supervisor in developing HCP and/or DTC tactical media plans, offering insights, and managing campaigns from start to finish. Collaborate with internal teams, media partners, and clients to ensure campaign alignment and optimization across digital and offline media.
Focus
Direct buys across online (Digital Direct, OTT/CTV, Audio, Podcasting) and offline/non-digital (Linear TV, OOH, Print, POC) channels. Execute media strategy, ensuring campaigns are launched, optimized, and reported effectively. Utilizing Prisma and research platforms for accurate planning and execution.
Responsibilities - Planning
- Assist in media planning kickoff, ensuring objectives align with client goals.
- Stay updated on marketplace trends and competitive insights for planning decisions.
- Utilize Eversana Intouch tools for competitive analysis, target digital consumption, and plan development.
- Support media strategy development, including channel mix, budget, and rationale.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts for aligned strategies across platforms.
- Coordinate media strategy and plan creation and presentation to clients.
- Participate in weekly status meetings and manage status documents.
- Assist internal teams (programmatic/paid search/social) in understanding client needs and deliverables.
Responsibilities - Buying
- Support RFP process, ranking proposals, and negotiating vendors.
- Oversee day-to-day campaign implementation, optimization, and reconciliation.
- Manage accurate budget tracking, media buys, and channel spend optimization.
- Review and ensure accurate media activation documentation, including Prisma setup.
- Guide junior planners on traffic sheets and media buys.
- Coordinate trafficking, creative asset delivery, and campaign alignment.
- Track, optimize, and report on campaigns, collaborating with analytics teams for QBRs.
- Support billing processes, ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies.
- Collaborate with Account Management, PMs, Creative, Data Science, and subject matter experts.
- Maintain communication with manager, VP, Group Media Director, and Director.
- Mentor junior team members on traffic and media buys.
- Contribute to insights for new business development.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of media planning/buying experience (digital priority), preferably agency experience.
- Pharma media experience (DTC, HCP, Payer).
- Syndicated planning tool experience (MRI/Simmons, Vivvix, Pathmatics, Nielsen, Innovid, SRDS - preferred but not required).
- Multiple account and campaign management experience.
- Prisma or MediaOcean experience required.
- Understanding of the total marketing process and media's strategic role.
