REPORTS TO: SERVICE MANAGER
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Inspectors are required to be certified to perform compliance inspections and/or preventive maintenance products that incorporate compliance inspections in accordance with Title 8 of the California Code of Regulations.
All applicants must possess knowledge of sections 4884, et. seq. of Title 8 of the California Code of Regulations, as well as ANSI and SAE standards, relating to the design and operation of cranes and derricks.
To be approved, the surveyor must possess knowledge and experience with the specific equipment subject to the license and demonstrate at least five years of related experience.
Such surveyors will be approved by the Division to perform certification services only under the authority and supervision of the licensed person.
- Complete the schedule of monthly inspections and preventative maintenance, ensuring the schedule is completed or alternative arrangements are made.
- Understand sold work hours and perform inspections within the allowed hours without compromising safety or quality. Communicate exceptions to supervisor, as soon as possible.
- Perform inspection of equipment in accordance with established guidelines. Document findings and make corrective recommendations to the customer. Provide a "Safety Notification" for any observed or known safety concerns.
- Consult with customer regarding all repair and safety issues. Discuss during the VISIT REVIEW recommendations to improve safety & productivity.
- Determine items requiring quotation.
- Complete and provide proper electronic documentation utilizing established company digital tools.
- Provide all required information and data for quotation including Master data, COMPONENTE level information, hours, field operatives required, tools and equipment required, and other pertinent notes.
- Read, understand and apply the contents of all OSHA, ANSI, CMAA, HMI and other codes or regulations.
- Complete inspection reports and other required documents in a professional manner.
- Review job with Service Manager, discussing repair issues and customer feedback.
- Maintain regular communication with the service office and supervisor.
- Coordinate work schedule with Service Supervisor.
- Perform service/repair work, as required and as scheduling permits.
- Maintain all company issued equipment, vehicle and assets.
- Maintain supply of forms, literature, inventory and miscellaneous materials in the service vehicle.
- Follow all established safety rules and procedures.
- Maintain company vehicle and uniforms in a clean and presentable manner.
- Participate in monthly safety meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
EDUCATION: Associate's degree in Industrial Electrical/Mechanical Technology or related field or equivalent vocational/technical training and experience is preferred.
EXPERIENCE: At least five years related experience with cranes or derricks. Include not less than two years of crane related field duties such as crane inspection, crane operator, heavy equipment mechanic, shop foreman, operations supervision, rigging specialist, or mechanical or civil engineer. Related education may be substituted for experience.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Good driving record, valid driver's license, willing to work off the ground, good written and verbal communication skills, varied overtime and on call availability, able to travel and work out of town, frequent lifting (25-100 lbs.), ability to climb, balance, stoop/crouch/reach overhead, and other physical activities. Primarily inside work (90%), occasional outside work (10%). Exposed to heat, cold, noise and heights.
