Senior Product Owner - Financial Services is responsible for defining and managing the strategic direction of the product portfolio, aligning with business objectives.
Collaborates with cross-functional teams (product marketing, sales, development, CRM, pricing, customer support) to develop and communicate a clear product roadmap.
Manages all Scrum team activities, fosters cross-team collaboration, and serves as central communication point for alignment and clarity.
Defines and maintains product backlog; breaks down epics into features and user stories, prioritizing based on business and technical needs.
Collaborates with pricing team on competitive pricing strategies, and with product marketing on effective go-to-market plans and sales enablement.
Develops market and technical knowledge to inform product decisions, leveraging CRM tools and customer insights for product enhancements.
Oversees product development process, monitors performance against KPIs, and makes data-driven decisions to optimize product portfolio.
Acts as Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support clients, represents the product at speaking engagements, driving product awareness and market presence.
Key Duties/Responsibilities
Product Strategy and Roadmap Management: Defines and manages the strategic direction of the product portfolio, aligning with overall business objectives. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop a clear product roadmap, regularly updates and communicates the roadmap to stakeholders.
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Coordination: Manages Scrum team activities (Daily Stand-Ups, Planning, Grooming, Retrospectives). Fosters cross-team collaboration; acts as central communication point.
Backlog Management and User Story Development: Defines and maintains the product backlog, breaks down epics into features, creates detailed user stories, prioritizes tasks based on business/technical needs. Serves as the business expert for the Scrum Team.
Pricing and Go-to-Market Strategy: Collaborates with the pricing team to develop and refine pricing strategies. Works with product marketing to create effective go-to-market plans and customer-facing materials.
Market and Technical Knowledge Development: Builds market and technical knowledge to inform product decisions; develops expertise on the products supported. Leverages CRM tools and customer insights to guide product enhancements.
Execution and Performance Monitoring: Oversees product development process, ensuring teams meet milestones and deliverables. Monitors performance against KPIs (revenue, market share, client satisfaction). Makes data-driven decisions to optimize the product portfolio.
Client Support and Thought Leadership: Serves as SME for the product portfolio. Supports clients through direct engagement, presentations, and consultations. Represents the product at webinars and conferences. Develops content for various channels (blogs, vlogs) to communicate product features and benefits.
Education: Bachelor's degree in a technical field or finance is required.
Experience: 10-15+ years supporting data teams; proven track record managing data-driven product lifecycle from conception to launch and beyond; 5+ years creating/maintaining a product roadmap; 3+ years working with cross-functional teams; 5+ years in Agile methodologies and tools; ability to break down technical issues into digestible data points; ability to manage and align expectations; excellent written/verbal communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
