What We Need A Senior Technical Animator works closely with animation and engineering teams to push creative vision and technical boundaries for animation. Someone who understands run-time animation, content authoring, creating tools, and pipeline development; who is engaged in designing and improving efficient workflows, while having an eye for quality.
What You Will Do
- Create and maintain various rigs in Maya.
- Implement and set up assets in the game engine.
- Troubleshoot animation issues in Maya and the game engine.
- Create, maintain, and continuously improve tools and pipelines in Maya.
- Optimize assets and systems for run-time performance.
- Refine workflows and content authoring processes with the team.
- Mentor others on tool usage, technical workflows, and best practices.
- Create written or video documentation for information sharing.
- Take an active role in structuring, organizing, and improving animation systems in the editor.

- Good understanding of animation principles and their application to video games.
- Knowledge of human anatomy and kinesiology, and how it relates to deformation rigs.
- Experience with game engines (Unreal, Unity, or AAA proprietary).
- Vast experience creating animator-friendly rigs in Maya.
- Tools development experience in Python, PySide2, or PyQt5.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles.
- Experience driving positive and effective collaborative processes.
- Experience optimizing assets (e.g., LOD, FPS, memory footprint) for game engines.
- Experience with animation, skinning, rigging, and/or pipeline tools in Maya (preferred).
- Experience with FACS-based facial rigs (preferred).
- Maya plug-in authoring experience in C++ (preferred).
