Full-Time SQL Data Administrator II - NBC Sports Next

SQL Database Administrator II participates in design, development, implementation, review, and monitoring of all database environments. Collaborates with software development, data engineering, and QA teams to ensure resource efficiency and provide best practices. Responsibilities:

1. Design, implement, maintain, and monitor database servers (Production, QA, Development).
2. Ensure High Availability (HA) and meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for systems.
3. Design and implement monitoring solutions for HA and SLA goals.
4. Review and audit environments for security best practices.
5. Assist in T-SQL development (check-in, review, build, testing, and deployment) and support of SQL CI/CD lifecycle.
6. Guide developers on best practices for writing queries/procedures.
7. Perform tuning to identify system performance bottlenecks.
8. Assist in system capacity planning.
9. Create and implement new environments based on business needs.
10. Design and implement data systems integration.

Requirements:

• 5+ years hands-on SQL Server experience
• Strong knowledge of MS SQL Server, T-SQL, PowerShell, and coding best practices
• Knowledge of MySQL & Postgres preferred
• Strong knowledge of AWS Cloud Services (RDS, EC2)
• Experience with source control (GitHub) for maintaining scripts and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions)
• Strong understanding of SQL Server high availability and disaster recovery (availability groups, backups, restores, FCI, log shipping, mirroring, replication)
• Strong SQL Server administration skills (backups, restores, snapshots, user/role security, access permissions)
• Understanding of SQL Server concurrency features, transactions, and locking
• Experience with SQL Server debugging and tracing
• Experience with full-text search and XML in SQL Server
• Experience in SQL performance analysis and optimization
• Associate's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience preferred
• Experience using Atlassian Jira & Confluence
