NBCUniversal Vendor Operations Sr. Software Asset Management (“SAM”) Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring effective management of software licenses, compliance, and vendor relationships within the organization. This position involves collaborating with various internal and external teams, and maintaining accurate records.
This role is responsible for: tracking software assets within NBCU technology footprint, ensuring compliance with software licensing agreements (consumption versus entitlement), managing software inventory, and implementing best practices for software asset management.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in SAM activities, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders as well as expert knowledge of the Eracent Lifecycle Management tool.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze company software asset data and create reports to drive compliance, cost savings, and harvesting strategies.
- Reconcile license entitlements with discovered software installations to determine effective license position.
- Analyze software usage reports and recommend remediation plans.
- Implement best practice SAM processes (shared sites, documentation, etc.).
- Develop best practices for software acquisition, deployment, and retirement.
- Maintain an up-to-date inventory of software assets, tracking licenses, versions, and installations.
- Provide specialized knowledge of key software vendors (Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, Adobe, VMWare, etc.).
- Ensure accurate documentation of software licenses and maintenance agreements.
- Conduct regular self-audits to validate deployments and reconcile entitlements.
- Develop and maintain Software Management Product and Capability roadmaps.
- Provide continuous improvement recommendations for SAM processes.
- Provide analysis, reporting, and documentation for vendor negotiations, true-ups, and inventory validations.
- Create and maintain policies and processes to support end-to-end software asset lifecycle.
- Provide remediation recommendations for non-compliant positions.
- Prepare for and address audits and questions from vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Provide ad-hoc compliance reporting on software portfolio position.
- Analyze software usage patterns and recommend cost-effective license models.
- Provide recommendations for software optimization and harvesting.
- Develop dashboards for ongoing compliance reporting.
Basic Requirements:
- Expert knowledge of Eracent Lifecycle management tool
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Business Administration, or related field
- 12+ years of experience in software asset management
- Expert knowledge of software licensing terms and conditions
- Excellent analytical and communication skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CSAM, ITIL) are a plus

Additional Requirements:
