Tax Accountant
About the role:
The Tax Accounting team is responsible for preparing and filing all tax-related obligations for Sleek's clients in Australia, including companies, individuals, and trusts. This team plays a critical role in guiding our clients through their accounting journey and actively engages with them during the preparation of their tax returns.
Scope of work:
- Preparation of Financial Statements and Tax Returns: Prepare accurate financial statements and tax returns for a range of entity types, including sole traders, companies, partnerships, and trusts.
- Regulatory Submissions: Handle regulatory submissions such as Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT), Taxable Payments Annual Report (TPAR), and other ad-hoc compliance obligations.
- Regulatory Knowledge and Compliance: Stay updated on financial and taxation regulations and legislation to ensure compliance in all aspects of accounting and taxation services.
- Client Communication: Maintain clear and professional communication with clients to provide updates, clarify requirements, and address queries.
- Timely Lodgement: Ensure the on-time lodgement of tax returns, regulatory submissions, and other compliance documents to meet deadlines and avoid penalties.
- Ad-hoc Duties: Perform other accounting and tax-related tasks as assigned by management, including support for audits or advisory services.
- Technology Proficiency: Use relevant accounting and tax software (e.g., Xero, MYOB, or ATO online services) effectively to streamline processes and maintain accuracy.
- Attention to Detail: Maintain high attention to detail in all deliverables to ensure accuracy and compliance with Australian taxation standards.
Requirements:
- Educational Background: A degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Taxation Experience: A minimum of 3+ years of hands-on experience with Australian tax, including the preparation of tax returns for sole traders, companies, partnerships, and trusts.
- Software Proficiency: Certified Xero user with strong expertise in its functionality. Experience using additional software such as Dext and Fathom is highly desirable.
