Reporting to the Tax Manager, the Tax Associate will support daily Tax Department operations. This includes tax return preparation, month-end close, audit support, and special projects.
The role involves contributing to best practices and procedures, adhering to internal accounting and SOX policies. Effective collaboration with all levels is required, along with a strong working knowledge of corporate tax best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with quarterly corporate income tax provision.
- Process and deliver partnership and related tax returns (including K-1 distributions).
- Produce corporate state and federal tax returns.
- Support accurate and timely month-end tax procedures.
- Draft IRS and state notice responses.
- Prepare additional tax returns (e.g., sales, business licenses).
- Participate in tax initiatives and research.
- Assist with audit requests and projects.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying process enhancements, technology solutions, and automation.
- Maintain accurate accounting files.
Qualifications
- 1+ years of public or corporate tax experience.
- CPA or CPA eligible preferred.
- Healthcare, public company, or public accounting experience a plus.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics or large ERP systems a plus.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work independently.
- Compliance with HIPAA regulations.
