Choice Hotels has an exciting new opportunity as our Tax Manager in the Tax Department. As a key member, you will provide crucial support as part of a strong team dedicated to delivering value through income taxes.
- Prepare, review, and analyze quarterly and annual Federal and State tax provision calculations.
- Prepare financial statement disclosures relating to income taxes.
- Prepare quarterly and annual tax forecast.
- Reconcile the company’s current and deferred tax accounts, including the tax basis balance sheet.
- Prepare calculations of the company’s uncertain tax positions.
- Provide support with Sarbanes Oxley/404 controls.
- Prepare Federal and State quarterly estimated payment calculations.
- Assist with managing tax depreciation and co-sourcing arrangements with outside providers.
- Assist with preparing income tax adjustment calculations.
- Assist with review of Federal and State tax returns.
- Research tax issues as they relate to tax accounting, compliance, audits, and special projects.
- Monitor tax legislation and financial accounting standards, planning for the potential tax impact on the company and prepare quarterly memos to document the tax impact of transactions as they occur.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent required.
- CPA license and/or Master’s degree in Tax or JD/LLM required.
- 3-4+ years’ experience in corporate or public accounting, including sound technical understanding of US Federal and State tax code.
- Intermediate understanding of ASC 740 Accounting for Income Taxes for public companies and tax compliance reporting requirements.
- Experience working with tax compliance and provision software.
- Intermediate skills with MS Excel and MS Word.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with co-workers.
- Attention to detail and the ability to multitask and prioritize, meet internal and external deadlines efficiently, and operate in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment.
This is an individual contributor role that will report to the Director, Tax Reporting & Technology.
Salary Range: The salary range for this position is $98,000 to $119,000 annually. In addition to the annual salary, this role is eligible for an annual bonus.
