Job Details
Main Goal: Manage the Code team to achieve project success and team member growth.
Experience: 12+ years of console and PC game development, including at least one shipped console title in the last 5 years.
Duties:
- Leadership & Team Management: Provide constructive feedback, clear communication for performance enhancement, continuous improvement approach, evaluate direct reports during performance reviews for career development, foster engaging team atmosphere and work-life balance, set clear expectations, empower individuals to solve problems, encourage opinions and informed decision making, utilize data (pulse checks, satisfaction scores) for decision making.
- Vision & Strategy Development: Develop and champion departmental and project vision/strategy aligned with organizational goals. Communicate effectively with the Development Director, Creative Director, project Directors, stakeholders, Co-Head of Studios, HRBP to present the vision and strategy, offer well-thought-out solutions and recommendations.
- Values & Collaboration: Champion PCF values, assess individual behaviors aligned with them, effectively communicate and promote adherence, foster effective collaboration with other departments for cohesive effort and enhanced outcomes.
- Technical Leadership: Hands-on technical role engaging with code, architecture, build infrastructure, and problem solving. Lead game tool and system development to expand product and game capabilities. Manage internal and external technology dependencies, create mitigation plans for critical technologies. Ensure stability, performance, budgets, and scalability of game systems, define and enforce development metrics, support troubleshooting across project aspects, stay updated on technological developments and communicate with the team. Uphold high coding standards, ensuring cross-platform, reusable, and maintainable code. Define technical architecture for internal and external development teams, defining technical requirements to align with creative vision, validating game features, and assessing technical feasibility. Encourage team communication and idea sharing for company-wide benefit, collaborate with the PCF Technology Center of Excellence in creating and maintaining development methodology and processes, responsible for implementation and adherence.
Skills: Strong problem-solving, organizational, teamwork skills, ability to work effectively with diverse backgrounds, proficient C++ programming, expert in Source Control and Code Review tools (Swarm, Perforce, Git), proven project management skills (Jira, Confluence), experience with proprietary or custom game engines.
