We’re hiring a UX Research Manager committed to free knowledge, human-centered research, open source, open data, transparency, privacy, and collaboration.
Role Overview:
- Leading and supporting a small team of UX researchers and a program manager.
- Overseeing research that informs and advances Wikipedia’s product development across 300+ languages.
- Working remotely with a distributed team (UTC+3 to UTC-7).
- Accountable for UX Research function serving stakeholders within the Wikimedia Foundation and broader movement.
- Close collaboration with Research, Decision Science, Design, and Product teams.
- Coordination with Wikimedia affiliates and understanding UX research community needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Building and managing a high-performing, collaborative research team.
- Identifying research opportunities informing product and technology teams.
- Acting as a strategic partner for leaders in adopting research-based recommendations.
- Leading planning and strategy discussions through research analysis.
- Developing an annual plan and managing team budget.
Skills and Experience:
- 3+ years managing UX researchers in a large organization.
- 3+ years working with senior leadership.
- 5+ years conducting UX research in product-focused teams.
- Experience translating research into design and product.
- Master’s or PhD in relevant field (e.g., HCI, Psychology).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
