The Academic Program Development Manager will support the strategic design and continuous improvement of academic programs delivered through online, blended, and workforce implementations. This role will ensure new and revised programs are innovative, market-responsive, and aligned with accreditation, regulatory, and workforce standards. This position will collaborate across academic, workforce, and curriculum teams, and will play a key role in advancing the institution’s mission and educational impact.
What You’ll Do:- Identify and Assign Resources: Oversee the selection of Subject Matter Experts (internally and externally sourced) to lead the design of new academic programs and the revision of existing academic programs to ensure alignment with institutional, accreditation, and workforce standards.
- Coordinate Subject Matter Experts (SMEs): Monitor and approve timesheets, agreements, and invoices related to SMEs performing program design, program/course documentation, and course readiness for launch.
- Facilitate Collaboration: Serve as liaison among SMEs, instructional designers, academic leaders, and workforce partners throughout the program development process.
- Collaborate on preparation of regulatory approval requirements: Support the Research and Development team on the development of required materials for state, accreditation, and regulatory submission of new and revised programs.
- Develop Curriculum Frameworks: Collaborate with SMEs and instructional designers to build curriculum maps, define learning outcomes, and design assessment strategies.
- Align with Market Needs: Partner with marketing and enrollment teams to ensure programs meet student demand and market viability.
- Evaluate Program Success: Participate in structured analysis of program performance to inform revisions and improve outcomes.
- Promote Institutional Mission: Ensure all program development efforts support the institution’s mission and strategic goals in distance education
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in education or Curriculum and Instruction, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3 years of experience in academic program development or curriculum leadership within a higher education institution.
- Ability to lead cross-functional academic projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Experience with both ground and online/blended program models.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to synthesize and present complex academic ideas clearly.
- Proven success in launching new programs from ideation through implementation.
This is a remote position, with occasional onsite travel required.
Anticipated starting salary is based on experience and qualifications.
