We are seeking an Accounting Specialist to join our team. This role is pivotal to maintaining the accuracy and compliance of our financial operations. They’ll oversee another full time employee, work closely with the accounting company that we collaborate with, and report directly to our CEO.
While the work volume is manageable, the responsibilities require meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to precision.
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated, with excellent time management and task prioritization abilities.
Although this role is fully remote, we are specifically looking for someone based in Bucharest, Romania - this is due to the nature of the job, which may occasionally require in-person tasks such as signing contracts, sending documents to the accounting company, or visiting legal institutions.
Tasks
- Accounting and Compliance Management
- Organize all primary accounting documents, ensuring that they are complete, accurate, timely, and compliant with local and international accounting standards. These will be gathered by their direct report, whose work they’ll oversee.
- Collect and organize information needed for the preparation of financial statements, tax declarations and fillings.
- Monitor account balances and gather information on client and supplier payments, payroll records, sales, and other transactions to support external reviews.
- Collect data and organize monthly financial information for management reports, ensuring completeness and accuracy before sharing with external accountants.
- Coordinate with banking, financial, tax, and regulatory institutions by compiling required documentation and facilitating communication as needed for audits or compliance.
- Stay informed of changes in industry regulations to ensure materials prepared for external accountants meet all current standards.
- Facilitate the implementation of new accounting principles and reporting standards by organizing relevant documentation and supporting external accountants as needed.
- Payroll Management
- Oversee the management of staff contracts, addendums, reports, and other employment-related documentation.
- Oversee payroll processes, including data entry, calculations, deductions, and tax filings, and address employee inquiries regarding payroll and benefits.
Requirements
Skills and Abilities:
- Highly responsible, proactive and self-motivated, with a strong drive for process improvement and optimization, able to work independently.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Exceptional attention to detail, with an understanding of the impact small differences can have on financial accuracy and reporting (such as a comma versus a dot).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills.
- Analytical thinker with a logical approach to problem-solving and the ability to anticipate issues, develop and propose effective solutions.
- Demonstrates meticulous organization in file management, ensuring clear, accessible, and logically arranged records and resources.
- Committed to maintaining “hygiene” in document organization, keeping digital and physical files structured, up-to-date, and easily retrievable.
- Open and adaptable to learning new software and tools that enhance work efficiency, including emerging AI technologies.
Requirements:
- Fluency in Romanian and English (our company is international, with contractors based in multiple countries).
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, regulations, and financial provisions.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role.
- Proficiency in MS Office (particularly Excel), Google Suite, and accounting softwares.
Benefits
- SEOmonitor is a leading SEO platform trusted by digital agencies worldwide.
- Flexibility in working remotely, with no days required to work in office - we don’t care where you choose to work from, as long as you do great work.
- We offer a full private medical subscription and an Apple MacBook for your work.
- Annually, we have around 30 paid leave days: the standard 21 days and bank holidays, but also Fridays off in August, a 4-5 days company-wide winter holiday, plus a day off for your birthday.
