Are you passionate about shaping the future of social work? Chamberlain College of Health Professions is seeking a dedicated and dynamic MSW Assistant Professor to join our team. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to inspire and educate the next generation of social workers through graduate-level courses and hands-on fieldwork experiences.
What You’ll Do:
- Teach and Inspire: Lead engaging classroom sessions, supervise applied practice experiences, and mentor students in various learning environments.
- Collaborate and Contribute: Participate in committee work and contribute to the growth and development of the College.
- Serve and Impact: Engage with the College, community, healthcare system, and the social work profession through meaningful service and scholarly activities.
Responsibilities:
- Evidence-Based Teaching and Learning: Implement the College’s philosophy, curriculum, and course objectives through various teaching methods, including online and immersion classrooms, fieldwork assignments, and community service. Innovate and revise curriculum annually to enhance teaching effectiveness. Develop assignments that align with students’ knowledge, skills, and learning needs. Independently manage all aspects of individual teaching loads. Monitor and evaluate fieldwork agencies to ensure they meet course outcomes. Provide indirect supervision and evaluation of students in fieldwork settings. Oversee and evaluate fieldwork preceptors/mentors in collaboration with field agencies and college departments. Offer documented feedback to students based on course outcomes and provide remediation as needed. Communicate current fieldwork agency policies, procedures, and expectations.
- Professional Role Model/Chamberlain Care: Serve as a positive role model, assisting students in their professional and social development. Act as an informal leader, mentor, and role model for faculty and staff, promoting customer service, collaboration, scholarship, communication, excellence, and professionalism. Mentor new faculty members.
- Commitment to the Social Work Profession: Engage in professional activities outside the College. Contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of College programs and philosophy. Participate in academic advisement and counseling for assigned students and assess counseling concerns for all students. Assist in developing and evaluating student admission, progression, retention, and graduation policies. Facilitate student and graduate evaluations of curriculum, teaching, and program effectiveness. Provide budget recommendations to the program coordinator. Demonstrate leadership by chairing or serving on College and University committees, work groups, and accreditation preparation activities. Gather and analyze data related to College and University assessment programs. Serve as course coordinator or Subject Matter Expert (SME). Document actions taken in faculty and committee meetings as appropriate.
- Social Work Practice Expertise: Demonstrate scholarship through teaching, discovery, application, or integration, consistent with assigned rank expectations. Maintain current course materials, apply evidence-based teaching principles, participate in peer reviews, and reflect on teaching practices.
- Lifelong Learning: Develop leadership skills through formal coursework or continuing education.
- Expectations of Rank: Faculty expectations for teaching, service, and scholarship vary by rank, reflecting experience, professional development, and contributions to the College and profession. As faculty progress in rank, their influence expands from the campus to the course and program levels. Faculty beyond the rank of instructor are expected to meet all prior rank requirements.
- Additional Responsibilities: Complete other duties as assigned. Comply with all policies and standards.
Qualifications:
- MSW from a CSWE-accredited program and a doctorate (Ph.D. or DSW) in social work or a related field.
