Clinical Education Fellow - Step 1 & TCM
The Clinical Education Fellow (CEF) position assists students in their transition to clinical training, beginning during the Step 1 Leave of Absence (LOA) and into year 3.
Responsibilities:
- Act as a coach for students navigating their third year, including expectations for clerkships, examination information, and guidance for NBME Shelf Exams, Step 1, and Step 2.
- Meet with AUC students during their Step 1 LOA and during clerkships in the Transition to Clinical Medicine Program (TCM).
- Provide instruction and support for students' use of Canvas and Medtrics.
- Demonstrate and encourage the use of available learning resources in preparation for exams and clerkships.
- Review students’ use of learning resources and facilitate ongoing Medtrics use for patient logging and evaluations.
- Foster a sense of connectedness among student cohorts and AUC through engagement.
- Facilitate discussions and reflective practice regarding academic performance, progress, and readiness, as appropriate.
- Refer students to appropriate departments and resources.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Recent medical school graduate of AUCM (American University College of Medicine)
- M.D. degree and completion of all rotations
- Satisfactory or better grade in 5th semester
- Excellent English communication skills
- Strong teaching skills and experience or potential
- Desire for self-improvement
- Flexibility and ability to work well in a team
- Exceptional professionalism
- Ability to research queries independently and know when to handle tasks independently or seek team/manager assistance
- Experience with some AUC clinical education placements
- Strong writing and study skills
- Familiarity working with medical students and knowledge of NBME and USMLE exams
Compensation: $24/hour.
