Job Details

Job Title: Central Intake Coordinator

Reports to: Sr. Director of Central Intake

Responsibilities:

  • Completes referrals, gathering information to coordinate service eligibility, insurance verification, authorization, and care coordination.
  • Facilitates problem-solving for referral sources related to patient admissions.
  • Ensures maximum third-party reimbursement through insurance verification and authorization.
  • Communicates with providers, clinical staff, and caregivers for pertinent information.
  • Handles daily patient referrals and intake operations, reviewing and processing pending referrals.
  • Enters demographic and insurance information for new customers and updates as needed.
  • Registers clients into the home care management program accurately and timely.
  • Informs location staff of referrals with details on deductible, coinsurance, and copay.
  • Adheres to HIPAA confidentiality rules.
  • Assists with identifying and reporting quality management and non-coverage issues.
  • Communicates with relevant parties for authorization of home health services (initial and ongoing).
  • Interfaces with providers/office staff/clinical staff/caregivers for authorization approval.
  • Provides direct support regarding utilization, authorization, and referral activities.
  • Contacts providers and families with authorization, denial, and appeal process information.
  • Completes monthly authorization expiry reports and notifies location of upcoming renewals.
  • Completes changes to health insurance in KanTime.
  • Verifies member eligibility and benefit coverage (initial and ongoing, 1st and 15th of each month).
  • Reports discrepancies to relevant directors and account managers.
  • Demonstrates general knowledge of state Medicaid plans, private insurance plans, Medicare, and Veteran Affairs.
  • Performs other duties assigned by the Director of Central Intake.
  • Supports company mission, ethics, and goals.
  • Maintains a positive and professional demeanor in the company and community.
  • Adheres to dress code, maintaining a clean and neat professional appearance.
  • Reports on time and as scheduled.
  • Adheres to company policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • High School Education; Associate's Degree preferred
  • Insurance experience
  • Home health experience preferred
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Familiarity with ICD-10 coding
  • Ability to work independently and remotely
  • Proficient in basic to intermediate Excel applications
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (additional languages preferred)
  • 1+ year experience in a clinical environment (preferred)
  • In-depth knowledge of benefits and authorizations
  • Proficient with standard computer programs for data entry and organization
