Full-Time Clinical Laboratory Associate II

The Clinical Laboratory Associate II (CLA II) supports daily clinical laboratory operations and assists Clinical Laboratory Scientists (CLSs) during patient testing.

Responsibilities include:

• Supporting other laboratory groups (Reporting, Biospecimen Management, QC).
• Potential leadership role for CLA team, coordinating tasks, workload, equipment scheduling, and document management.
• Assisting CLSs in automated sample processing and other support tasks.
• Excellent attention to detail, communication, multitasking, flexibility, and teamwork.
• Onsite training for first six weeks (Monday-Thursday, first shift).
• Essential Duties (under supervision):
• Sample collection, preparation, labeling, handling, preservation, fixation, processing, and storage.
• Assisting CLSs with sample processing, automated testing, and equipment maintenance.
• Creating sample batches, printing labels, and assisting with troubleshooting.
• Reagent preparation and storage, supply ordering and stocking, record keeping.
• Monitoring temperatures, resolving issues, and initiating service requests.
• Cleaning equipment and work areas.
• Documenting corrective actions for test deviations.
• Participating in internal audits, scheduling equipment calibration, and ensuring equipment labeling.
• Developing standard operating procedures under supervision.
• Identifying process improvement opportunities and reporting to management.
• Reporting quality and safety concerns.

Qualifications include:

• Associate degree or equivalent, Bachelor's degree preferred (in Biomedical Laboratory Science, Clinical Science, or related field).
• 1+ year Guardant Health Clinical Laboratory experience or equivalent.
• Strong computing skills and excellent documentation practices.
• Knowledge of reagent stability, quality control, and test result factors.
• Strong practical reasoning, judgment, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to divide workload, prioritize tasks, and independently execute tasks collaboratively.
• Ability to participate in projects, update others on progress, and complete assignments efficiently.

Compensation (Palo Alto/Redwood City, CA):

• $36.29 to $49.92/hour (full-time).
