The Compensation Analyst I will support the administration of compensation programs that support the North American compensation strategy and ensures that compliance, internal equity and external competitiveness requirements are met. This position is 100% remote and can be located anywhere in the United States or Canada.
- Completes Initial Job Evaluation Review: Conducts a comparative analysis of new jobs against existing roles to understand relative job value and responsibilities.
- Performs the initial Job Evaluation using both global and local methodologies, adhering to standardized processes for assessing job levels.
- Makes the initial assessment of grade and job profile.
- Creates job descriptions designed for use across all business lines, consistent in format, style, and comprehensive in content.
- Administers the end-to-end survey submission process: Populates required data fields in formats specified by various compensation survey providers.
- Assists and provides support in the annual compensation cycle, compiling and organizing relevant data during budgeting and compensation proposal phases.
- Audits monthly incentive data files to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established procedures.
- Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual payout files related to local business incentive plans, per specific guidelines.
- Conducts online research to gather compensation market data, compiles data from external sources and internal systems into a structured format for review and analysis.
- Conducts periodic audits and prepares reports to address concerns and changes to legislation, including minimum wage requirements.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of compensation programs and processes, identifying and implementing improvements and automations.
- Maintains knowledge of market practices and emerging trends in HR with a focus on Compensation programs.
Additional tasks as required.
Education and Experience:
- University Degree in an appropriate discipline (HR, Business, or Finance preferred) or equivalent post-secondary education.
- Three to five years of human resources experience, with a focus on compensation and/or benefits. Professional accreditation preferred.
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:
- Advanced level user of Excel (pivot tables, lookups, advanced formulas, macros)
- Knowledgeable of HRIS and compensation related tools/software
- Working knowledge of broad-based compensation topics (market pricing, salary structure design, job evaluation, analysis).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptional customer service skills with a team player mindset
- Proven time management skills and strong attention to detail.
- Strong analytical skills and mathematical aptitude
- Understanding of how an organization functions.
- Familiar with survey methodology and point-factor job evaluation systems
- Ability to deal with complex, sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality
- Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
