About the Role: Based in Italy, the primary role of the Country Medical Lead, Medical Affairs (MA), is to educate and develop academic key opinion leaders (KOL) champions supporting the clinical value of Guardant Health's products.
The Country Medical Lead will co-develop studies and publication strategies to develop clinical evidence for positive guidelines and physician adoption, and support payer coverage.
This role will report to the Medical Affairs Director South of Europe.
The role plays a major role in abstract and publication creation, and in developing physician educational materials for focused events (e.g., academic grand rounds, scientific sessions, advisory boards, CME lectures), and training speakers/educators.
The Country Medical Lead will understand clinical needs for oncology healthcare professionals and patients, and build a team focused on strategic partnerships with leading cancer centers and community-based oncology groups.
They will translate data from research and clinical utility projects, and disseminate key information through publications and presentations.
The role also involves supporting strategic commercial partnerships, educating the sales team, and developing regional physician influencers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Understanding cancer's complexity and identifying unmet clinical needs.
- Developing strong relationships with KOL champions.
- Supporting strategic healthcare partnerships.
- Driving clinical utility projects and investigator-initiated studies.
- Developing education slides and speaker programs.
- Preparing oral presentations, data reviews, and interactive education events for KOLs.
- Educating personnel about emerging abstracts and publications.
- Assisting with agenda planning and meeting facilitation of Clinical Advisory Boards and scientific events.
- Identifying and drafting study protocols and publication plans.
- Leading Medical Science Liaison and Clinical Oncology Specialist teams.
- Leading investigator-initiated studies.
- Working with the country manager to align medical plan with country strategy.
- Supporting market access activities.
- Collaborating with international and global medical affairs teams.
- Identifying scientific conferences and organizing Guardant Health's presence.
- Planning yearly budget requirements.
Qualifications:
- Terminal degree (Pharm.D., Ph.D., M.D., or Master's with equivalent)
- Clinical expertise in Oncology (highly desirable)
- Minimum of 8+ years of healthcare experience
- Experience working with experts at academic medical centers
- Successful publication as primary author or drafter
- Track record of presentations at major academic centers
- Experience in study protocol design
Technical Skills Required:
- Advanced knowledge of biotechnology, diagnostics, and pharmaceutical industry (oncology focus)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
Language Skills:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in Italian and English
Additional Requirements:
- Extensive travel (3-4 days/week)
