Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, we have a unique opportunity for a highly analytical and ambitious tax professional to join our Finance team.
The Director of North American Tax will lead all aspects of the company's North American tax function, including income tax reporting, tax compliance, oversight of US indirect taxes, tax planning, and strategy.
This leader will oversee the tools and processes necessary to help us scale for the future in a highly visible role that includes frequent interaction with the CFO, Finance Leadership Team, and other senior leaders.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee compliance calendar for U.S. Federal, State, and Local income, indirect, and property tax compliance.
- Manage State and Local sales and use tax nexus studies, incorporating acquisitions.
- Oversight of Senior Tax Accountant for sales, excise, and gross receipts tax compliance.
- Oversight of Federal and State tax audits (analysis and response to tax notices).
- Manage controversy processes at Federal and State levels.
- Manage FIN48 process, including U.S. Domestic and State income tax matters.
- Perform tax accounting and financial disclosure (ASC740 compliance, tax provision calculation).
- Support Finance function reporting on tax risk management.
- Manage budget for outside advisors and ensure project timelines and budgets.
- Develop and implement tax planning ideas to reduce short- and long-term tax burdens.
- Review and advise executive management on business transactions.
- Assist with global transfer pricing to ensure appropriate profit allocation.
- Ensure compliance activities optimize taxes in the U.S.
- Act as lead in supporting external audit of tax.
- Coordinate with Director - International Tax on international tax matters.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Tax
- Masters in Tax, LLM, or comparable advanced degree preferred
- 10+ years of broad-based tax experience
- 5+ years at a Big 4 public accounting firm
- Experience in compliance, controversy resolution, financial reporting
- Planning and transfer pricing
- Deep knowledge of ASC740 and FIN48
- Experience in a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and/or Electronic Payments company preferred
Salary: $160,000 - $200,000 (base) + bonus
