Director of Finance will be a strategic thought-partner, and report to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The successful candidate will be a hands-on, participative manager, and lead the development of the internal team to support finance, business planning, budgeting, and human resources functions.
The Director of Finance will play a critical role in partnering with the executive leadership team in strategic decision making and operations.
Accounting & Finance Functions (50%):
- Manages and oversees the accounting and finance function for both ACMG and ACMGF.
- Monitors the finances and prepares financial statements.
- Supervises and works with staff accountants.
- Monitors procurement, ensuring appropriate procedures and documentation.
- Approves journal entries, invoices, payroll, allocations, and timesheets.
- Manages the annual audit process and supports the preparation of the 990s.
- Monitors investments and cashflows.
- Works with the investment advisor.
Financial Reconciliation & Payroll (20%):
- Oversees daily banking requirements.
- Responds to inquiries regarding financial results.
- Develops and implements new procedures.
- Performs month-end close.
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements.
- Processes payroll and ensures tax compliance.
- Updates compensation changes and payroll deductions.
Support Other Departments (20%):
- Reviews expense reports.
- Collaborates with other department directors.
- Advises staff on non-routine reporting.
- Provides training to staff accountants.
Administration, Reporting & Analysis (10%):
- Partners with the CEO to prepare grant and contract applications.
- Staff liaison to ACMG/ACMGF Treasurers, and committees.
- Staff liaison with outside consultants.
- Maintains active participation in financial industry activities.
- Works with accounting staff closely.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in nonprofit finance
- Experience with government contracts and OMB compliance (preferred)
- Advanced knowledge of accounting, tracking budgets to actual, understanding of accrual basis accounting and audits.
- Strong project management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and QuickBooks Online (or other accounting software).
Compensation: $140,000 - $150,000
