We're hiring a Director, Technical Accounting to join our Accounting team.
Oscar is the first health insurance company built around a full stack technology platform and a focus on serving our members.
The Director, Technical Accounting, will lead our technical accounting work.
You will work cross-functionally to understand and provide technical accounting guidance on new or complex transactions and corresponding financial disclosures.
You will promote accounting policies and ensure they reflect current practices, are up-to-date, and compliant with existing and newly adopted accounting standards and regulations.
You will report to the Chief Accounting Officer through the Deputy Controller.
Work Location: Oscar has a blended work culture. If you live near our New York City, Tempe, or Los Angeles office, you'll be expected to come into the office at least two days per week. Otherwise, this is a remote/work-from-home role.

Pay Transparency:
California, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, and Washington: $174,400 - $228,900 per year.
All other locations: $156,960 - $206,010 per year.
Responsibilities:
- Lead technical accounting work under US GAAP.
- Partner with the Tax Team.
- Provide technical accounting expertise.
- Prepare technical accounting analysis.
- Create accounting policies.
- Oversee new accounting pronouncements.
- Work with external auditors.
- Review financial disclosures.
- Develop relationships with teams.
- Perform ad-hoc research.
- Compliance with laws and regulations.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years relevant experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field, or 4 years of experience
- CPA licensure
- 2+ years US-based insurance companies experience
- 2+ years practical experience in financial reporting
