Full-Time Health Educator I - Nutrition

Job Title: Health Educator I – Peak of Season Nutrition Education and Culinary Program

Status: Full-Time 36-40 hours/week, Non-Exempt *Hybrid*

Compensation: $20/hr-$25/hr

Employment Period: Through the end of May 2026

Reports to: Program Manager, Nutrition Programs

Food Access LA seeks a dynamic individual to teach food and nutrition education classes for its acclaimed Pompea Smith Good Cooking/Buena Cocina Nutrition Education Programs.

Responsibilities:

• Implement hands-on nutrition, physical activity, and culinary classes.
• Assist with program goals: events, outreach, data collection, evaluation.
• Lead classes using Food Access LA Peak of Season curricula.
• Achieve grant objectives for specified classes and participants.
• Participate in outreach activities (e.g., health fairs).
• Maintain files, records, intake information, pre/post tests, and surveys.
• Input and maintain grant reporting data.
• Ensure program and staff equipment maintenance.
• Maintain a safe and interactive learning environment.

Required Skills:

• Bilingual English/Spanish, written and verbal
• Reliable transportation and valid CA driver's license
• Minimum 2 years' experience as an educator
• Demonstrated leadership
• Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and SharePoint
• ServSafe Certification (can be obtained upon hiring)

Desired Skills:

• Experience in nutrition or health education
• Working knowledge of Food Safety regulations
• Experience with underserved communities

Additional Information:

• Grant-funded position, time-limited through May 2026
• Hybrid remote/in-person role with in-person attendance at meetings/events
• 90% Spanish-speaking population; written/verbal communication in Spanish required
