Newsela is seeking an HR Generalist to join our People team. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of experience as an HR Generalist. This position reports to the VP of People and will play a critical role ensuring key processes along the employee lifecycle are running smoothly. This role will work across the people team to help manage onboarding & offboarding, performance management and employee experience.
What you’ll be doing:
- Oversee and enhance onboarding and offboarding processes.
- Partner with the VP of People to evaluate and implement scalable HR processes.
- Collaborate on the development and maintenance of Employee Handbook and other policies.
- Manage the international contractor workforce employee lifecycle.
- Organize the performance management process.
- Help drive initiatives to improve employee engagement, recognition, and retention.
- Collaborate with the team to support workforce planning and organizational development.
- Manage the DEIB Council to drive culture, support, and learning & development initiatives.
- Serve as a central point for HR-related communications.
- Coordinate and facilitate company-wide all-hands.
- Gather feedback and insights from employees post-communications or events.
- Provide backup and support to Business Partners and Talent Acquisition.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and internal policies.
