Backblaze is seeking a thoughtful and detail-oriented HRIS Manager to join our People team.
You’ll lead, optimize, and scale our HR technology and compliance programs, serving as the technical owner of our HR systems. Ensure data integrity, seamless integrations, and reporting accuracy across the employee lifecycle. Partner cross-functionally to uphold compliance posture of a public company, supporting internal controls, documentation, and annual audits. What You'll Do:
- HRIS & Systems Ownership: Manage configuration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of our HR tech stack (ADP Workforce Now, Greenhouse, PlanSource, Deel, etc.). Serve as subject matter expert for all HR systems, ensuring data flows and smooth integrations with Finance, Payroll, IT, and Legal. Lead implementation and rollout of new tools. Create, maintain, and improve dashboards and reports for business insights.
- Compliance & Audit Readiness: Maintain and monitor documentation and controls related to HR compliance (SOX, SOC 2, CCPA, GDPR). Support HR responsibilities in audits, partnering with Finance, Security, and Compliance. Partner with HR operations team to ensure compliance with employment laws. Monitor data integrity and retention.
- People Data & Process Optimization: Support data audits, troubleshoot discrepancies, and maintain data hygiene. Maintain, document and scale processes, workflows, and SOPs for employee lifecycle events. Support compensation cycles, performance reviews, and headcount planning through reporting and data analysis. Use data to identify trends, uncover anomalies and drive improvements. Collaborate with IT and Security on role-based access controls and user management.
The Right Fit:
- 5-8 years of experience in HRIS, HR operations, or people analytics, ideally in a public company or compliance-driven environment.
- Experience with optimizing core HR systems (ADP Workforce Now, Rippling, Etrade, etc. preferred).
- Knowledge of employment regulations, HR compliance programs, and public company audit processes.
- Excellent Excel/Google Sheets skills, experience with people data analysis and reporting.
- Attention to detail, project management, and documentation skills.
- Collaborative working style, desire to build efficient, people-centered processes, and a solutions-oriented attitude.
- Comfortable with change and eager to grow.
Nice to Have:
- Experience supporting SOX or SOC 2 audits.

Base pay range: $120,000 - $160,000
