The Human Resource Generalist will support daily HR functions, ensuring compliance and a positive workplace culture.
Assists in recruitment, onboarding, benefits, compensation, leave administration, and acts as payroll backup.
Supports employee relations, engagement, performance management, compliance, and other initiatives.
Builds strong manager relationships to address HR needs.
Primary Job Duties:
- Assists in creating and maintaining HR Standards of Practice and compliance initiatives (Sarbanes-Oxley).
- Keeps abreast of HR trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies.
- Administers health, welfare, and 401k plans (enrollments, audits, changes, terminations).
- Processes payroll and insurance documents for accurate record-keeping.
- Coordinates open enrollment, changes, and employee benefit training.
- Administers compensation, benefits, leave, performance, talent management, and training programs.
- Manages onboarding, including offer letters, background checks, I-9s, and candidate tracking.
- Updates relevant databases (HRIS, company employee, 401k).
- Promotes HR programs for an efficient, conflict-free workplace.
- Handles complaints (sexual harassment, discrimination) and investigations.
- Assists managers with employee performance issues and terminations.
- Handles employment-related inquiries, referring complex matters to appropriate staff.
- Maintains compliance with employment laws and regulations.
- Produces the Company Wellness Newsletter and manages wellness activities.
- Prepares special events (Year End Celebration, employee engagement).
- Collaborates with managers to update job descriptions.
- Creates, monitors, gathers, and analyzes HR metrics, and produces reports.
- Drafts and sends employee communications.
- Suggests new procedures, practices, and technology for HR efficiency.
- Communicates with all business units and provides timely support.
- Serves as primary payroll backup and assists with payroll process as needed.
- Assists with regulatory audits.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field required.
- 1-2 years HR Generalist experience preferred, 5+ years total HR experience required.
- SHRM-CP or related certification preferred.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws, HR policies, and demonstrated HR experience.
- Comprehension of business laws related to human resources, employee rights.
- Understanding of personnel and compliance record management.
- Proficient in MS Office and HRIS systems (ADP Workforce Now).
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, problem-solving, conflict resolution, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational, time management, and analytical skills.
