International Development Division has an opening for a Senior Mental Health Advisor reporting to the Health Team Lead in Washington, DC.
EDC implements programs in education, youth workforce development, and health, funded by USAID and other donors, with programming in over 25 countries.
Works in crisis and conflict-affected environments, fostering gender and social inclusion and equity.
Essential Functions:
- Communicates clearly and courteously, maintaining positive relationships with clients, collaborators, and co-workers.
- Adheres to EDC policies and procedures.
- Leads development, piloting, implementation, and scaling of mental health initiatives with colleagues.
- Co-leads EDC's thought leadership efforts on mental health.
- Develops strategies for raising EDC's profile in mental health.
- Leverages networks for funding and collaboration opportunities.
- Co-designs and co-leads an external campaign promoting EDC's mental health expertise.
- Leads campaign strategy, objectives, and activities.
- Develops partnerships with other implementers, donors, and influencers.
- Represents EDC in key forums, delivering presentations.
- Continues piloting interventions, facilitating learning and refinement.
- Provides technical assistance to projects.
- Supports business development for mental health programs.
- Serves as an ambassador for mental health internally and contributes to staff professional development.
Travel: Occasional travel to crisis and conflict-affected locations and periodic travel to EDC offices in Waltham, MA, and Washington, DC.
Requirements:
- Education: Master's degree in mental health; Ph.D. preferred.
- Experience: 7-10 years (Master's) or 5-7 years (Ph.D.) related experience, including 5+ years supervisory/project management.
- Skills: Experience in clinical practice (within last 10 years), mental health research, international settings, crisis-and conflict-affected areas, evidence-based practices (e.g., CBT, CPT, DBT), trauma-informed approaches.
- Language: Professional proficiency in English; French or other language skills a plus.
